Jai Jinendra,
Welcome to this issue, which is looking at the theme of dana, charity, in Jainism. Anecdotally we have probably all observed how important the concept of dana is in Jain life, celebrations and rituals. In this issue we take a closer look at what exactly defines charity, and what defines true charity. This will hopefully help us to conduct our acts of charity in a way that will have maximum positive impact on our soul and assist us on our journey to moksha. We are honoured to include a prize-winning essay on charity by Sean Bevis and articles which profile a few examples of charity and donation.
I am particularly pleased to introduce a new column entitled ……. Every issue, we will interview a member of Young Jains and ask a few questions to get to know them a bit better and see how they incorporate Jainism into their lives. There are many inspirational people within this organisation so this is an opportunity to be inspired by our peers!
