Happy belated New Year to you all in what I’m sure is going to be a fantastic year for YJ, especially with the forthcoming Convention. 

Over the years, we have marked many different events and anniversaries in the newsletter.  In this issue we have taken the opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day - with a Jain twist.  At the heart of the Jain religion is compassion and love so we felt it only right to dedicate an entire issue to such ideals.  In this issue we turn our focus in particular to devotional love, or bhakti, and the very powerful and significant role this plays in spirituality.  Through several feature articles, this issue celebrates the loving relationship between a bhakt (devotee) and God.

In this issue you will also find discussion of the love between humans, and indeed how this is linked to spirituality.  There is an outline of the Jain wedding ceremony, an article on how the karma theory relates to relationships and the example of the inspirational relationship between Nala and Damayanti.     

So, what has love got to do with Jainism?  Keep reading this issue and hopefully you will find some answers.
